Nextwaves Industries Advances Research in Reconfigurable Antenna Technology
Nextwaves Industries, Vietnam's pioneering designer and manufacturer of RFID equipment and components, continues to push the boundaries of antenna technology through its cutting-edge research and development efforts. The company's recent publications in prestigious IEEE journals highlight its significant contributions to the field of reconfigurable antennas, positioning Vietnam as an emerging center for advanced wave transmission technology.
In 2024, Nextwaves' research team published 'Dual-Band Frequency-Reconfigurable Wearable Antennas for UHF Radio Band Applications' in IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (Volume 72, Issue 1). This groundbreaking research, authored by Technical Director Quoc Hung Dang along with Shengjian Jammy Chen and company founder Dr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, demonstrates the company's expertise in developing wearable antenna solutions that can operate across multiple frequency bands.
This publication follows two significant research papers from 2023. 'Pattern-Reconfigurable Flexible Textile Antenna Using RF-Switch Integrated Circuits' (IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, Volume 71, Issue 8) showcases Nextwaves' innovations in flexible textile antennas that can dynamically change their radiation patterns using integrated RF switches. The second paper, 'Multifunctional Reconfigurable Wearable Textile Antennas Using Coplanar Reconfiguration Modules' (IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, Volume 71, Issue 5), further demonstrates the company's advancements in creating versatile wearable antenna solutions.
These publications build on earlier research from 2022, including 'Analysis and Design of an Ultrawideband Dual-Polarized Antenna for IBFD Applications' and 'Calibrated Frequency-Division Distorted Born Iterative Tomography for Real-Life Head Imaging,' showcasing the company's diverse expertise across multiple antenna applications.
The research is led by Dr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide and was recognized as one of Australia's Top 40 Early Career Researchers in 2021. Dr. Nghia has received multiple Best Paper Awards at IEEE conferences and serves as a Top Reviewer for IEEE Transactions and Letters, as well as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation and Technical Co-Chair for IEEE conferences.
Nextwaves Industries' current research focus includes next-generation technologies such as reconfigurable antennas and AI-powered antennas capable of optimizing radiation patterns in real-time. The company is also developing telecom-grade antennas for LTE, Wi-Fi, and 5G applications targeted for export markets.
With a team of 20 skilled engineers, Nextwaves has developed over 50 antenna models and holds more than 20 patents and research publications in wave transmission and antenna design. This strong foundation in research and development enables the company to create customized solutions tailored to real customer needs across various industries.
As the first domestic vertical integrator in Vietnam's RFID sector, Nextwaves Industries continues to demonstrate that Vietnamese technology innovation can compete on the global stage while addressing the specific needs of both domestic and international markets.
